A lot has already been said about tinned or chemically grown grapes, celery, peaches, spinach, sweet bell peppers, cucumbers, potatoes amongst others. This time, we will check a few more things and see why they should be avoided.
Chemically Grown Strawberries:
However good and healthy and bright that they may look, it’s all a marketing gimmick. Such strawberries cause more harm than you can ever imagine. According to Robert Kenner who was filming strawberry fields observed that the workers on the field cover their entire bodies and face to protect themselves from a whole lot of dangerous pesticides applied to strawberries. It is safest to go for organically grown strawberries or better still, go without them.
Butter-Flavored Microwave Popcorn:
Chemical called Diacetyl is used for creating artificial butter flavor which is so dangerous that factory workers who give popcorns their butter flavor suffer from a condition called the popcorn lungs! The people who make these do not disclose this chemical on pretext of trade secret. The only way to steer clear of readymade butter-popcorns is to make your popcorns at home using real butter. Once plain popcorns are done, pour melted butter on it and get the same flavour. They are much, much healthier and come for less than half the cost.
Diet Soda
Say NO to diet soda & diet foods, sugar-free candies and gums etc as these contain artificial sweeteners like Sucralose, Aspartame, Acesulfame K, and Neotame. When these chemically prepared items metabolize in our body, they create digestion, weight problems, headaches, depression, neurological disorders, joint pain, inflammatory bowel syndrome, chemical toxicity, in the long run. And for those who continue to consume them may even suffer from diseases and dreaded as cancer.
Canned Tomatoes
Don’t go anywhere near canned tomatoes. Because according to Frederick vom Saal, Ph.D., professor of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, the resin tin linings of cans contain, a synthetic estrogen called bisphenol-A (BPA) which is linked to reproductive problems (affecting sperm production or causing chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals), heart disease, diabetes, obesity etc. Instead opt for tomatoes in glass bottles or in Tetra Pak boxes. To get fresh tomatoes is not so difficult so preferably make it a habit to buy them fresh and avoid tinned or tetra packs altogether.
Artificial Sweeteners:
In the long run artificial sweeteners are as bad for your waistline as any normal sugar. Refined white sugar also causes bad health conditions so try to replace it with small amounts of organic sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, blackstrap molasses, and other foods which contain high levels of vitamins & minerals as and when possible.
White Chocolates:
While chocolates are known as food for the brain that increase blood flow to the brain, protect blood vessels, act as mood boosters and improve focus; white chocolate has no such properties. Go for organically prepared, regular, dark chocolates.
